My Beginnings
I started at MCC as a student in the fall of 2022 and took some acting classes for fun. I also auditioned for my first play at the MCC BlackBox that same semester and performed in Heathers the Musical. I was immediately hooked by the BlackBox theatre and the community it inspired for theatre folk like myself.
Intro to the “BlackBox”
I had never performed in a BlackBox theatre space before MCC. I did plays and such at my high school, but the auditorium at my school had a traditional stage layout. The transition to the BlackBox layout was both interesting and very cool.
My MCC BlackBox Career
I went on to perform in other shows such as Juliet and Romeo in the Spring of 2023, Frankenstein that fall of 2023, Present Laughter in the Spring of 2024, and Legally Blonde the Musical this past Spring of 2025. I absolutely love the theatre and all of the people that make the shows happen, and I’ll continue to audition for and be a part of the shows when time permits me to. It is a great passion of mine to perform, and I love that MCC has a theatre department. Theatre is often something that is overlooked, especially in smaller colleges, but I’m glad that MCC has made a place for like-minded individuals to put on shows for the community.
